DIAMOND FLIGHT by Chris Navarro

Diamond flight is a bronze and stainless-steel sculpture I created using an abstract geometric diamond shaped design while also combining it with a representational flying bald eagle. I came up with the composition of using an eagle with his wings spread wide flying through the diamond. I decided to attach the Eagle’s upper wing to the top of the diamond this would allow the lower wing to be surrounded by negative space, creating a stronger sense of flight and movement. The overall abstract design of the sculpture is a diamond above a pyramid. The sculpture is designed to spin 360* a top the pyramid base. I wanted to capture the spirit and expression of flight and freedom of an eagle soaring above through a diamond sky.
